Here’s some recently discovered lines that have been attributed to Geoffrey Chaucer. Now we can be sure who first came up with the “Farter’s Rhyme”:
“And ’twas he whom doth smelte itte, ’twas he that doth dealte itte
But ’twas heem whome denydedde itte, ’twas itte he whom supplyddede itte?
Ah, but ’twas perchance yon barde whome composedde yon rhyme, ’twas he whome commyttedde yon cryme”
