New Labour leader…that’s ‘new’ Labour leader, not New Labour leader or new New Labour leader…Jeremy Corbyn took some time to appoint a Shadow Defence Secretary today. Apparently he found it hard finding someone in the Parliamentary Labour Party who agrees with his defence policy. The phone calls he made went like this:
“Hi, it’s Jeremy…Corbyn, yes, listen I was wondering if you’d like to take on the role of Shadow Defence Secretary?”
“What does it involve? Well, I want you to draw up plans for scrapping our deterrent force, withdrawal from NATO and running down the armed forces….hello? Hello?”
“OK, who’s next on the list?”
